It’s a very hierarchical company. Sometimes it feels like the people doing the actual work aren't allowed to speak up if they see a problem with the plan. You have to really encourage them to be proactive rather than just following the specs to the letter.

The scale of TCS is mind-blowing. We needed 200 developers for a legacy system overhaul and they had them ready to go in two weeks. They are the masters of the 'Global Network Delivery Model' and the cost savings are huge.

Communication can sometimes be a hurdle. Because so much of the work happens offshore, you can run into time-zone lag. We’ve had a few instances where a simple bug fix took 24 hours just because of the back-and-forth between NYC and Mumbai.
